Phase one has begun.
After much thought over the last few days as to how I am going to implement this in the least stressful way (for me) as possible, I have come up with the following plan.
Phase one: From now until March 11th (her six month birthday), I am going to put her down for her naps at 10 AM and 2 PM. For this first phase, she will be in the living room in her bouncy seat. I will be in the vicinity, but won't be acknowledging her. I will use the sound machine and attempt to allow her to fall asleep on her own. She usually wakes up when I put her down after nursing her, so at this point, I am not going to do a scheduled 'wake time' because I am essentially trying to teach her to fall asleep herself. Later, when she has mastered this, I will do the wake time. I don't want to throw too much on her plate at one time.
***on a side note, I did this this morning and it worked wonderfully. I was quite pleased and Daniel was proud. : )
So, that is what I will be working on for the next few weeks before I start my 21 days of forming her new habit. Keep us in your prayers and feel free to ask me how it's going so I can be held accountable. It may not seem like a big deal, but it is very tempting to just continue to allow her to fall asleep in the swing for her naps and when I'm nursing her at night. It would be so much easier. *sigh* But, alas......I must be a grown up mommy and try and teach her something.
