Blessings of Friends

Yesterday, after getting back to work from a late lunch, I walked into my building and was quickly asked for my help setting up a meeting. My first thought was....'great...this is going to be something technical and I am going to look like an idiot.' But, as I approached the meeting room, which was filled with people, they suddenly shouted , "surprise!" and took my picture.
The dear people from my work had put together a huge surprise shower where they not only blessed me with their thoughtfulness in simply attending, but they had purchased 2 of our large ticket items from our registry as well as taking up a collection of money for anything else we may need. I was awestruck and still am. (pictures that make me look much fatter than I imagine myself to be will surely follow this post....)
And the blessings don't stop there. As I am at work today, one of my best friends, Tiesha, her husband and her kids are at my house cleaning. Yes, CLEANING. I was encouraged to leave my house in disarray; which, obviously was not hard for me. And when I return from work, they are going to have dinner ready for us and then join us to eat.
I am so humbled at the outpouring of love that friends and family have shown me. It is especially humbling because my pregnancy has been so fabulous. No complications and very little sickness. So many women have it worse. I have the normal pregnancy fatigue, swelling and aches and pains, so it is so wonderful to have people in my life come around me in love and support. How amazing is that?
Thank you, Lord, for incredible blessings!

Letter in-utero

Dear Baby Girl-

There are many things that I want to remember about carrying you in my tummy. The most important is that you are a mover! You are ALWAYS moving. Kicking, rolling, shaking....I don't know what else you can do in there, but you find a way to do it. Sometimes I can feel you putting your little hand on my right hip bone and pushing your entire body up in my stomach. Everything morphs and moves when you do that. In fact, you did something similar the other night when Daddy was on the phone and he was looking at my tummy. You moved and my whole stomach just shook. His eyes got really big and he mouthed to me, "Was that you?" When I told him it was you, he smiled and kept watching to see if you would do it again.
You also really like to sit way up by my ribs. So high that when I am sitting down, my ribs just rest on your little body. Although, using the word "rest" makes it sound like it is comfortable when it is anything but! I try and push you down, but you are stubborn and won't budge. I think you get your sass from your Daddy. ; )
One night, when I was getting up to go to the bathroom (you sit on my bladder and make me have to pee a LOT) I felt your little bum just floating up at the top of my tummy. It was so clearly your tush, that I got such a thrill out of identifying it. I also love feeling your heels move on the right side. It is so fun!
I have so many dreams about you and so does your Daddy. Last night, I dreamt about what outfit I was going to bring you home from the hospital in. In my dream, it was a pink nightgown with equally pink socks and a hat. I think that made my decision for me.
Daddy dreamt last night that he was giving you kisses on your cheek and you were imitating him. He said that everyone kept exclaiming how impressed they were that you already knew how to do that and he just told them you were very smart!
Your room is almost finished! Clothes are washed (you have a TON), your changing table is all set up and diapers are in your diaper service, your crib has a clean sheet on it and is ready for you to snuggle. Nana and I painted the room for you, too. And we just got in the material for your bedspread and curtains yesterday. It is so cute; dark brown with bright pink, blue, green and orange flowers all over it. Nana is so excited to start on it and get everything put together for your arrival. Everyone is so excited.
Your Grandma Milburn is having a shower for you in a couple of weeks. All of the Milburn family is going to be there and your Aunt Kristen and Aunt Deborah are VERY excited for it. I was just talking to Aunt Kristen the other day and she was saying how special it was that you are going to make her an aunt and how excited she was for your arrival.
Your uncles are excited too. And, baby girl...you have a LOT of uncles. Five, to be exact. And they will love you so much.
It is not long now, my sweet daughter! We can't wait to meet you!!!

Love~
Mommy

Pre-baby blues

This last week I have been very down. It has been frustrating for a number of reasons. One....I don't want my "blues" to be misinterpreted as non-excitement for my soon-to-be bundle of joy; and two....I have found that friends either don't know how to deal with the onset of my emotions or they dismiss it as "hormonal." I think the source of my frustration lies in the inability to do things that I want to do (no, not something as simple as ordering a margarita with dinner; although that WILL be wonderful.....). I'm talking about the fact that I have a baby coming in 5 weeks, more or less, and I have so many things that I am excited to do in preparation, but my lack of energy brings those desires to a screeching halt. It's more that being tired from lack of sleep. It's a lack of energy that gets my heart pumping when I am doing household chores for more than 20 minutes. It is the weirdest phenomenon. This coupled with my incredibly swollen legs and feet has really been dragging on my spirits.
But, all this being said....I really am excited for baby girl to get here! It is so surreal and so incredibly exciting! Little by little, her bedroom is coming together. If she arrived today, I wouldn't be stressed out. This is MAINLY due to my INCREDIBLE mother. She has been so selfless and non-judgemental throughout this whole week. Saturday, she came over to our house and cleaned our bedroom and bathroom (the biggest thorn in my side throughout the whole house. I so desire our bedroom to be a sanctuary to fall into in the evenings, but until now, it has been a crap-hole.), did a TON of laundry and made us a delicious lasagna for dinner. It felt wonderful to spend time with her chatting and all the while taking notes about the kind of selfless servant of a mother I so desire to be to my own daughter. Mom, I love you and appreciate you so much!!!
This week will prove to be a much more organized week, I think. Having my house clean and only having to "keep it up" helps tremendously and will give me more time to get some much needed things done. After watching several friends go into labor early, Daniel really wants us to get our bag all packed and ready for the hospital. So, that is the goal. All-be-it a small one. But, it is the goal all the same. Baby steps. Literally!

In full bloom

Welp, the baby is growing and, consequently, so am I. Although, my butt has grown exponentially faster than my stomach. THAT will be fun to get rid of.

She continues to move ALL the time and even though it is uncomfortable a lot, I really enjoy it and will miss it when I have her....which is only 6 weeks and 3 days away! Well, until my due date, that is. I can not believe it!

This last weekend, my mom came over and we painted the baby's room. My incredibly talented mother is going to be making all of the bedding and curtains. We are just waiting on the material to arrive. I can't wait until it is all put together.

Daniel put the crib together and the dresser and changing table. So, the furniture is all set up. I also did a load of baby laundry just in case she decides to surprise us a little early.

Sunday, my girlfriends threw me a shower! We got LOTS of baby girl clothes and a GREAT supply of blankets. Including 2 beautiful home made ones. It took me an hour to take all the tags off the clothes. WOWSER! She is going to be one well dressed baby!

Last night, my mom called me to tell me that she had made dinner for us. Isn't that so loving? So, we drove out to Erie on our way home from work and picked up our delicious dinner. We decided to swing by Mike and Kelly's to say hi to them and while we were there, they told us they had a gift for us. It was from them and Beth. We could NOT believe what they had gotten us!
Praise the Lord for wonderful, thoughtful, generous friends!!!
And, although I am starting to feel HUGE and not really enjoying showing off my naked belly anymore, I figured I would make Daniel take an updated belly pic anyway. So, here it is folks.....all *** pounds of it. 33 weeks along.
