We have a plan, people! It may not be an ideal plan from the view of many people, but it is a plan we feel comfortable and blessed with.
Many of you have wondered how it is possible for Daniel to have lost his job when he is a real estate agent. Don't they work on commission anyway?
Here is your answer.
Becoming a real estate agent is a very scary thing for the first 1-2 years. Daniel had asked many agents in his office how they made due with their finances the first couple years and there was one common answer: "I maxxed out all my credit cards."
Obviously, this was a less than appealing idea for us. So, Daniel decided to pitch himself to one of the agents in his office as a licensed assistant part time. God seemed to open so many doors for him to real estate that we really wanted to make it work and give it a fair shot. He did an awesome job of presenting himself and we got an amazing situation that really helped us out and allowed us to stay afloat with all of our financial obligations. He had a steady income part time and then the other half he was on his own for commission based income.
We are just a few of the MANY people who have been affected by the economy at this time. Daniel was no longer able to stay on as an assistant and now we are facing some interesting choices.
It was an awesome opportunity for us to be able to talk to people about trusting in God and why I wouldn't be returning to work. We made a mutual decision before Miriam was born that she would be put first and that me staying home with her would always be the priority. Even if it meant losing our house.
We prayed about it many times. And this is what we prayed: " Lord, we don't want to lose our house. Please help us to trust you with our finances. "
Even though our path is not entirely clear at this moment, it is slowly working out in an amazing answer to prayer.
First, we had to decide what to do with the house. We did our budget and figured out how long we could make our payments, but kept searching for other answers in the meantime. The answer literally fell in our laps.
My brother, Isaac, has an apartment of sorts in my parents' basement. He is 20 and very ready to move out. So, guess who is going to rent our house? Yep. He and 3 or 4 friends are going to be moving in at the end of May and we are moving into my parents' basement.
What an amazing answer to prayer! Many of you may be thinking....."Are you kidding? You are moving with your family into your parents' basement! What a nightmare."
But, you know what? We are keeping our house. We are going to be able to get back on our feet financially and Daniel will be able to give real estate the fair shake that it deserves.
And I am still staying home with Miriam.
What else could we ask for?
Although I am sad to be leaving our home and many of our furniture items, I am thrilled that we have a place to go and we have a plan.
I am anxious to see the interesting ways that God will answer our prayers for the next chapter of our lives.
The winds of change are blowing.

Moving back with the 'rents is our back up plan too. Not too bad if you ask me . . . although we would have to keep our fighting a bit quieter . . .
I am glad you have a plan you feel good about. That is a blessing.
