Pinterest Postings

After over a year of having a Pinterest account and RARELY using it, I finally jumped on board. I wasn't hesitant to use it for any reason at all. Just never found something that got me excited. Once I found that ONE craft......it had a slight domino effect on my life.

I believe I have something like 497 pins. When the junk am I going to accomplish crafts/decorating/organizing/recipes/photographs/education for my children with 497 ideas (and growing)? But, I won't stop. I LIKE IT!!!!!

So, here's my attempt: I will accomplish one of my pins at least once a month and let you know about it! Was it worth it? Did I like it? Was my life forever changed? You know...all the good stuff. With only 497, I should be done blogging in roughly 9.5 years.

Here's one I did recently.
taco soup recipe

I altered a few of the ingredients based on what was in my pantry. It turned out awesome. Super hearty and my husband was quoted as saying, "If you would like to make this every day, I would be ok with it."

It is now added into our monthly menus.

1-2 lbs ground turkey
Small bag of frozen corn
1 onion, chopped
1 can pinto beans
1 can black beans
1 can refried beans
2 cans Rotel's diced tomatoes w/grn chilis Medium (my girls are super sensitive to spice, so the medium seemed to tame it down more than my first attempt which was with the 'original'.)
1 pkg dry taco seasoning mix
1 pkg dry ranch dressing mix

Cook the onions & ground turkey.

Add the rest of the ingredients without draining any of the cans. Stir. Let simmer for 30 minutes.

Seriously.....it's that easy.

I served it with tortilla chips and some toppings.

Toppings can include:
black olives
sour cream
shredded lettuce
cheese

It should also be noted that my family all has some kind of food allergies. The girls and I are gluten free and Daniel has an extreme sensitivity to food additives like MSG. All of these ingredients I was able to buy without gluten OR MSG. Even the dry taco seasoning and ranch dressing mix. They had both at the natural grocery store.

There you go! A Pinterest success. Just to even it out, I'll add one that wasn't so successful.

                                                          Anyone try this??

if you put a wooden spoon over a pot of boiling water, it won't boil over
You're supposed to be able to put a wooden spoon on the top of your boiling pot to keep it from boiling over. Not impressed. Maybe I did it wrong.
